Monty’s father, Clarence Coles started Save supply with David R Marcus in 1929. After a couple of decades, Marcus retired and Clarence bought him out. But Clarence, who continued working in the business until his death in 1981, didn’t force Save Supply on his sons. Monty, now 66, was only 14 when he started helping out after school, on weekends and during the summer. When his two sons, David & Travis became teenagers, they too, helped out at the store, but they also tried different jobs. Now David 35, and Travis 33, have adopted the same work ethics as their father and fully participated in the day-to-day operations of the business.
In 2010, we celebrate our 81 year solid foundation of service to southern West Virginia, and look forward to continuing throughout the 21st century with the same old-fashioned spirit of customer service and great savings we’ve cultivated from the very beginning.

On January 17, 1943 fire destroyed our original location at 19 Hale Street, but it didn’t destroy our spirit. We moved to 22 Summers Street, then to 514 Virginia Street East. In 1974, we consolidated all operations at 711 Park Avenue on Charleston’s West Side to increase customer convenience. We now are one of the area’s largest kitchen and bath showrooms, as well as ample store-side free parking.

Along with promoting a good work ethic with his son, Mr Coles has passed on his values of treating the customers right. Customer service is a priority with Save Supply. With each employee, we offer our customers the piece of mind in knowing that they will be taken care of from the beginning of the ordering process, to the completion of the job.
We invite you to stop by today, and see what we have to offer. As Monty says, “We can’t save you money, if you don’t come and see us.”
